Whether you’re coming or going to or from the Florida Keys, it is a long journey and requires some pit stops for either snacks or meals. Our first suggestion on your trip which is convenient if you’re coming in or going is Wahoos at Whale Harbor Marina. It is located right after Windley Key if you are coming in, and just before Windley Key if you’re going out. Most years we hit it on the way out after going to Robbie's to feed the tarpon. It is a short 10-minute ride away from Robbie’s, conveniently located right off the overseas highway.
The most important part of a food recommendation is the food of course. Wahoos features excellent food, with an even better view of the harbor and the Atlantic. It was just voted the 3rd best view in the Miami-Heralds "Best of South Florida." From the Wahoo's website, they say they have "The Key's freshest selection of locally caught fish and seafood including mahi-mahi, grouper, snapper, tuna stone crabs and Florida lobster that come right from our docks." Boasting a forty-five item menu of delicious fresh food, it never fails to disappoint. Along with a vast drink menu of wine, beer, original and classic drinks it is a one-stop wonder for everything you'd need to fill up.
One of our favorites is the 'Classic Keys Fish Sandwich.' It has fresh Mahi on it along with some other toppings which put it over the edge of fantastic.
The prices at Wahoo's range from $6 to $32. Nothing more than $32 except for some wine in their selection. It is a deal for what you pay when you go.
We would highly suggest Wahoo's at Whale Harbor anytime you can stop there. It is a quick, quality meal with a fantastic view.
