Shop Recommendation: Captain Hook's

When down in the Keys for mini-season, not everyone has their own dive equipment. If you need to rent equipment, buy new stuff, or get some supplies, Captain Hook’s in Marathon is one of our top recommendations!

Captain Hook’s is an excellent shop with staff that is very knowledgeable about diving, fishing, and boating. They have almost anything you can think of that you would need while out on the water hunting for lobster, spearfishing, and some essential fishing gear. It also doubles as a gas station for your boat, their docks are located right off the Vaca Cut bridge in Marathon. Like usual boat gas stations, they also offer ice for any cooling needs you might have, food if you're hungry, and drinks.

Captain Hook’s is a certified 5 Star PADI dive center. Their website states “We offer daily dive trips on our dive boat. We go to two different sites, depending on the visibility. This is your chance to experience something that just doesn’t exist any other way. Get up close and personal with the mysteries of the deep, where you’ll see beautiful coral, all kinds of aquatic life that is unique to the keys, and much more!” They also do dive certifications for people who want to get more up close and personal with some fish! They do refresher courses, to basic classes, to the full fledge scuba classes. If you are certified already and wanted to go to the level of Dive-master, they also offer that. Captain Hook’s offers boat rentals if you need one while down in the Keys. They offer

center console boats and deck boats. The boats range from 18’ to 26’ in size, and the prices go from about $270 for one day and up to about $1,100 for 5 days for the 23’ center console.

They also offer fishing charters off their docks. The charters last approximately 4 hours in time and cost anywhere from $500 to $850 depending on the Captain that you chose.

All in all, Captain Hook’s in Marathon is one of our favorite shops to go to while in for mini-season. They offer everything we need for reasonable prices and excellent customer service. We highly recommend it to anyone who is in need of their assistance!
